US aircraft experiences engine failure on approach to CJIA
Pilots on board a United States registered aircraft en route to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) had to shut down one of their engines yesterday afternoon when it experienced problems just before landing at the nation’s

Kaieteur News understands that the pilot and his co-pilot were on board the Cessna Citation, bearing registration number N501TB, when one of its engines began to overheat.
CJIA Public Relations Officer, Aneka Edwards, said that the aircraft was on its way to CJIA when the pilot realized that one of the engines was overheating.
She said to ensure no serious damage to the aircraft, the pilot opted to turn off the engine. It was noted that the aircraft landed safely and engineers were up to last evening examining the engine to rectify the problem.
Kaieteur News understands that local safety officers received word that the plane was experiencing problems and safety/emergency systems were activated. While it is unclear what the plane is doing in Guyana, Kaieteur News was told it is not the first time they have been here. The aircraft landed at CJIA sometime around 16:00hours.
A Cessna Citation is part of the Cessna’s line of aircraft. It is the marketing name for the company’s line of business jets.
