Bail was yesterday set at $100,000 for a man who was charged for snatching an expensive piece of gold jewellery from a patron at the Stabroek Market area a few days ago.
Todd Browne appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and faced a charge of larceny from the person.
The charge which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry alleged that on May 30 at Stabroek Market he stole a $150,000 gold band from Latchmie Narine. He pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Prosecuting the case was Corporal Bharat Mangru who stated that the facts in the matter are as charged.
Mangru revealed that Browne had faced a similar charge before the courts before. The case was subsequently transferred to Magistrate Faith McGusty who sits at the said court.
Browne is expected to appear again in court on June 20.
