Action in the Guyana/Ecuador match in Venezuela, the Guyanese went down 4-7.
The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) made its debut in Beach Rugby when male and female teams represented this nation at the just concluded Vargas South American Beach Games hosted by the Venezuela Olympic Committee.
Whilst finishing fourth in both segments of the competition, the Guyanese gave a good showing despite this being their first attempt at the sport which has been making strides in South America.
The Guyanese faced off against Argentina, Venezuela and Ecuador in the Men’s segment while the females competed against Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay.
GRFU President Peter Green stated that the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) played a pivotal role in facilitating Guyana’s participation and they are grateful for the opportunity afforded rugby, the Guyanese was also represented in volleyball.
