A Richmond Housing Scheme woman was unable to identify two men, during an identification parade after the police apprehended them over the weekend, on an allegation of rape. The men have since been released.
It was reported early Saturday morning, at Richmond Housing Scheme, a man armed with a knife entered the house of a sweeper/cleaner by taking out a number of louver panes from one of her windows, and raped her.
The man apparently held the woman at knifepoint before raping her. Other reports are indicating that the police have recovered two shirts in the woman’s house.
The victim subsequently reported the matter to the Anna Regina Police Station. Detectives later visited the woman’s home and took a report.
The victim who had to seek medical attention for the injury to her neck also gave statements to the police.
The woman, who reportedly lives alone, also underwent a medical examination, at the Suddie Public Hospital.
Some time last year, residents, especially of Richmond Housing Scheme, were forced to take a more proactive stance in securing their homes since burglars used to wake them up during the nights by tapping at their doors.
