Teens face court for seawall stick-up
Two teenage boys who allegedly mugged two schoolgirls on the city seawalls a few days ago, and made off with their cellular phones and other items, were yesterday charged and remanded to prison after they appeared before a city Magistrate.
The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court heard that the 16-year-old boys accosted, brandished a knife and cut one of their victims before stealing their property on March 30, last.
The girls were reportedly sitting on the seawall in the Kingston area when the two teenagers and two others rode up on a pedal cycle and pulled a knife on them.
State Prosecutor, Corporal Seon Blackman explained that the teenage boys attacked the girls, and relieved them of the items worth $206,500 and rode away. The matter was reported and seven days after the incident the victims noticed the two accused on the said seawalls and alerted the police.
They were arrested and subsequent investigations led to the charge being instituted against them. The teens were yesterday arraigned and remanded by Magistrate Faith McGusty.
They pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them. The case will be called again on April 14.
