Detectives on Tuesday apprehended 27-year-old Devon Romero, the Lima resident, who was at large when he was sentenced to three months for the trafficking in narcotics. He was arrested at a liquor restaurant, at Lima, Essequibo Coast.
Romero was subsequently transferred to the Camp Street prison in Georgetown, on Wednesday.
Grace Romero, the prisoner’s mother is somewhat aggrieved by the manner in which she claimed the police arrested her son.
Grace Romero, the mother of six, explained that on Tuesday she learnt that her son was drinking at a Liquor Restaurant, at Lima New Housing area with some acquaintances when detectives showed up and made the arrest.
Romero said that her son came out of the interior and was scheduled to go back on Monday when three policemen went to arrest him. She said that they beat her son then took him to Camp Street to serve time.
