Kelon Fredericks, a 12-year-old pupil of the Suddie Primary School is now nursing a broken leg after a shed housed in the compound of the Suddie Public Hospital fell around him.
Fredericks can count himself lucky. Had it not been for the alertness of another family member who was with him at the time of the incident things could have been worse.
Fredericks along with two other young boys were visiting a friend who resides at a house in the Suddie Compound. He was returning to his Maria’s Lodge home when he had an accident. The shed housed in the compound of the Suddie Public Hospital fell hitting him on his left leg.
A female guard attached to the Suddie Public Hospital noticed that the faulty shed was making a screeching sound and went to another section of the compound to alert a male guard. Upon her return the shed had already collapsed, injuring young Fredericks.
Fredericks was hospitalized, Tuesday evening and released Wednesday morning, after the doctor had administered dressing to his injured leg. One of his friends sustained a hit to his stomach and cuts to his neck.
