A tattoo artist was yesterday denied bail when he appeared at the city court to respond to a robbery charge.
Regan Ramiah, 27, of Lot 142 Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery with violence which was read to him.
He is accused of robbing Ishwardeen Singh of $45,000 at Campbellville, Georgetown on Monday, last (March 24).
The Prosecution, which was represented by Corporal Deniro Jones, did not reveal the details of the crime but offered several objections to bail.
Jones urged the court to order Ramiah held on account of the nature, gravity, as well as the prevalence of the offence. He also stated that personal violence was used in the commission of the crime.
Magistrate McLennan upheld the objections of the Prosecution and remanded the accused. The case will be called before the Chief Magistrate on April 9.
