Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a 47-year-old security guard whose body was found in a hut at the Russian Embassy, Pere Street, Kitty, around 05:30 hrs yesterday with a suspected gunshot wound to the head.
The dead man has been identified as Courtney Booker of 701 Penny Lane, South Ruimveldt.
Police in a statement said that the man’s body was found in the hut where he was on duty.
It is believed that the Booker, who lives alone, might have committed suicide. A .38 revolver and a spent shell were recovered from the scene.

Yesterday, when Kaieteur News visited Booker’s home, his relatives knew little about him. His brother, Patrick Booker said that he was at home in Timehri when his daughter called and informed him of his brother’s death.
“When I come here to see what is going on, I hear my nephew broke into my brother’s home this morning (yesterday) and carry away his flat screen television, music set and a set of things,” the brother said.
He said that his brother is someone who would solve his problems and he is puzzled that his brother may have killed himself.
Asked if the security guard was experiencing any personal problems, Patrick said that his brother was in love with a woman but had to part with her because it was “complicated.”
“But I don’t think he would kill himself because of that. There is something going on,” Patrick said.
