A 24-year-old woman was shot at early yesterday by a man during an attempted robbery at ‘A’ Field, Sophia.
Sarah Hughes of Section ‘A’ South Sophia was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and sent away. She was struck to the right foot, but luckily, the bullet only grazed her.
Hughes said that she was on her way to work when the man approached her at 18 Field, Section ‘A’ Sophia, and demanded that she not make any sound.
“I was going to take a bus and this guy passed me and then he turned back, and was at the back of me. He came right up to me and asked me not to run, but I run and run in a neighbour yard and while running up the step, he fire a shot at me,” the woman recalled.
After the intended robber fired the shot, he escaped on foot and Hughes was rushed to the hospital by neighbours.
According to the caterer, her shooter is in his early twenties. He was dressed in a pair of short pants, a jersey, a pair of slippers, a haversack and a cap, covering his face.
Investigation is ongoing.
