DEAR EDITOR,
Please allow me to respond to a letter that was published in your newspaper on Monday January 13th, 2014 titled “Shame on the Ministry responsible for Co-ops” which was written by Gervais Sansulotte.
The writer of the said article stated that he/she was not close to the happenings at the Paradise Multi Purpose Co-operative Society since he/she was ‘away’. This accounts for his/her senseless ramblings since he/she is not au fait with the steps that are currently being taken to regularize this Society.
In fact, only as recent as Thursday January 9th, 2013, a meeting was held, to address the said issue, in the Boardroom of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development. Present at that meeting were the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the Honourable Norman Whittaker and a few of his officers as well as Officers from the Ministry of Labour and stakeholders from the above mentioned Society.
Now that Gervais Sansulotte is back in the country I would like to urge him/her to keep abreast with all developments in relation to the said Society before writing to the newspaper and making a lot of unfair and mischievous allegations against the Minister and his Officers.
By the way, I looked at the Register of persons allocated land in this Co-operative Society and did not find such a name. Please let Sansulotte come clean. Mrs. Carol Valz Chief Co-operatives Development Officer
