The bloated body of a man was yesterday fished out of the Demerara River in the vicinity of the Transport and Harbours Wharf in Kingston.
Ranks from the police maritime wing assist in retrieving the body from the Demerara River
The body was discovered by workers early yesterday morning wedged between two vessels, which were docked at the wharf.
“We see it between the MV Kimbia and Lady Northcote, early this morning (Monday),” a T&HD worker told Kaieteur News.
The police were summoned and after more than an hour, the body was eventually removed from the water.
A police source told this newspaper that judging from the condition of the body it was in the water for more than two days.
They believe that the body drifted from up the river and was being washed out to the mouth with the falling tide, until it became stuck between the two vessels.
