The Fallstop, Port Kaituma porkknocker accused of fatally stabbing to death his 20-year-old brother was ordered held without bail after during his first court appearance before Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday.
The charge which was read to 38-year-old Neville France at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court detailed that he murdered Richard France on December 12, last, at Fallstop, North West.
The prosecution yesterday revealed some new details about Richard’s murder. Reading from the case docket, Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that the siblings resided with their father who actually witnessed the murder.
Jones said that on that date, the brothers were ‘drinking’ over at a neighbour’s residence when an argument ensued with the said neighbour over a hammer the accused allegedly lent to neighbour.
The neighbour allegedly lashed Richard who then ventured home. According to the prosecution, the 20-year-old was sitting on a bench ‘outside’ when the accused confronted him.
However, their father who was reportedly cooking in the kitchen was able to witness what transpired between the two. It was reported that the patriarch observed an argument occurring between the two.
He said the younger sibling walked away and whilst doing so, Neville stabbed him in his back. After receiving the stabs to the upper left side of his back, Richard attempted to run but soon collapsed on the road way.
Jones told the court that their father then called the police and the accused was apprehended. He said too, that whilst under caution the accused produced a written confession.
Additionally, the prosecution said that the murder weapon was recovered with aid of both the accused and his father.
Neville France is expected to appear before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry today.
