Miner found dead at Port Kaituma
Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death of a miner at Port Kaituma North West District, (NWD).
According to a police press release, the body of Terrence France was discovered with several suspected chop wounds at about 06:00hrs yesterday at a mining pit at 8 Miles Backdam, Port Kaituma.
Port Kaituma residents, described the man also known as ‘Terry’, as “a stranger to the area, who was looking for work” but who has relatives in Oronoque, Port Kaituma
While details of his death remain sketchy, other reports almost concluded that France was murdered.
It is believed that he was killed some time on Saturday night.
France’s body is at the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
There have been several murders in Guyana’s interior, with the North West District leading the figures.
