After losing everything they had ever worked for, to fires and high winds, several families were reminded that they are not alone in their time of need as they were presented with several donations by members of the Guyana Relief Council (GRC) yesterday.
Apart from receiving cheques worth over $45,000, other donations included basic necessities such as gas stoves, mattresses and groceries.
Members of the families that received the donations: (from left) Anneta Douglas, Martin Alfred, Maurel Hope, Joseph Call and Jacqueline Davis
Members who collected the donations on behalf their families were; Jacqueline Davis, a family of six of Lot 14 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, Anneta Douglas, a family of one of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, Maurel Hope of Crane Housing Scheme, Martin Alfred of Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara and Joseph Call of Bella Dam, Pouderyen, West Coast Demerara.
Even as they were in tears, each family member expressed how grateful they are for the mercy they were granted and thanked God for touching the hearts of the members of the organization who remembered them in a time they thought they would simply be forgotten.
