Defence Headquarters (DHQ) emphatically defended its Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Inter-Unit track and field title yesterday with a dominant performance that saw them edging close to establishing a dynasty in athletics within the force.
Defence Headquarters amassed 361 points to retain their GDF Inter-Unit title last night at the Base Camp Ayangana Ground. Base Camp Ayangana settled for second place with 232 points while Training Corps was third with 184 points.
1st Infantry/21 Artillery was fourth with 165 points, while the Coast Guards rounded off the top five with 111 points. Base Camp Stephenson was sixth with 91 points while Coastal Battalion had 61 points with 2nd Infantry was eighth with 60 points.
Four Engineers finished in the cellar position with seven points. The GDF Inter-Unit competition was aimed at selecting the GDF team that will compete at the November 12-15 Inter-Services Annual Athletics Championships (ISAAC) at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.
