Relatives, friends and colleagues yesterday paid their last respects to Tactical Services Unit rank, Constable Michael Cumberbatch, who was slain at his Sophia home two Mondays ago.
He was accorded a military funeral following a service at the Bethel Gospel Hall in Camp Street.
A senior police official explained that all slain ranks are accorded military funerals, once they are killed in the line of duty and have no blemishes in their careers.
Cumberbatch, 29, was shot dead on September 23, last, when he came out of his house to confront a strange man who had come into his yard. He is survived by a wife and two children.
Vickram Persaud, a La Grange, West Bank Demerara resident, was subsequently detained and charged with Cumberbatch’s murder.
