National Under-19 cricketer Ricardo Adams has been suspended for three months from all cricket played in Guyana which is under the jurisdiction of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) after a hearing at the GCC at noon yesterday.
The Essequibian was prevented for playing in the Pepsi Inter-County 50 overs match yesterday although he was named in his side’s starting eleven when reports surfaced that the Wakenaam born all-rounder who now resides in Tuschen in East Bank Essequibo, had broken Curfew and faked illness while on National duty in St. Kitts last month.

According to the GCB during his ban, Adams must attend professional counseling sessions, which will be provided by the Board to help him with his problems so that he can return to cricket early next year a more focused individual.
The decision was made by Executives of the GCB yesterday following a debriefing with the coach of the National U-19 team, Adrian Amsterdam, and the Manager, David Black.
After debriefing, the Executives allowed Adams to explain what transpired in St Kitts. He was also represented by his Essequibo team Manager Moses Ramnarine the former Essequibo off-spinner.
“He agreed that the major allegations made against him were true and apologized to the Board, the Coach, and the Manager; stating that he would not repeat his mistakes again,” the GCB informed yesterday afternoon.
The 18-year-old Adams, who has represented Guyana at the under-19 level for the past four years, was informed that he could not play in the 2013 Pepsi competition, on the day of the first game after the issue was raised at an executive meeting of the GCB on Friday night. (Sean Devers)
