Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) on Friday evening last rewarded their National U-15 all rounder Ronaldo Mohamed and opener Robin Bacchus for their recent accomplishments. Mohamed copped the most valuable player award in the recently concluded Regional U-15 tournament, while Bacchus scored a half century for Guyana against regional representative to the Champions League, Trinidad and Tobago, in a warm up match at the Guyana National Stadium.

Both players received a set of cricket equipment including bats, pads, gloves and helmets. Mohamed whose grandfather the late Alfred Ali Mohamed served as chairman of the Guyana Cricket Board competitions committee for over 20 years, also gained selection on a Trinidad and Tobago invitational team to tour San Francisco and Australia in November to play in a T\20 and 50 over series.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the club’s pavilion, president of the GCC Lionel Jaikaran congratulated the players for their achievement and urged the other members of the club to take the game seriously. He also credited Leon Johnson who is currently touring India with the West Indies A team. Head coach of the club Monte Lunch thanked the organization for recognizing the players’ efforts, while long serving member Harold Dhanraj urged both players to continue working hard. He also spoke of the importance of discipline.
Fourteen year old Mohamed in an invited comment stated that his recent success came as a result of hard work. He informed that his goal is to one day represent the West Indies senior team. Bacchus like Mohamed said that his is now seeing the result of his hard work and dedication. Both players thanked Coach Lynch and the club.
