The driver of a pickup truck on Tuesday morning mowed down several utility poles when he lost control of the vehicle at the corner of Church Street and Vlissengen Road.
According to an eyewitness, the vehicle GRR 2181 was proceeding east towards Vlissingen Road when it slammed into a utility pole and created a domino effect.

“He turned the corner and then like he lost control and tip the first post then he hit the second before he slam into the last one and crash into the wall,” the eyewitness said.
Miraculously, the driver, who was believed to be under the influence of the alcohol, managed to pull his self out of the wreckage although a live wire was resting on the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said that he then boarded a taxi but they were unsure if he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
