Dear Editor,
The issue of who, if any, killed Walter Rodney will never be settled until the Independent International Commission of Enquiry (IICE) is established. The call for the IICE will also never cease by those who desire the truth being made public.
And those who want rational thinkers to unquestioningly accept the 33-year old story that Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham killed Rodney base on their conjectures they need to think again. It is time for the IICE to commence and the purveyors be held accountable.
It is time for those who accuse to prove their case. In every society there are courts and constitutional institutions set up to investigate, adjudicate and make findings known. The IICE is one such institution.
Reference is made to Freddie Kissoon’s letter, “Those people cannot enhance any serious discourse” (KN July 18, 2013). For Freddie to seek to diminish one’s intellect without providing evidence to refute their contention on the Rodney/Burnham issue speaks to a person of poor analytical ability.
On this issue when persons are being challenged to provide evidence on their reckless statements, instead of responding to the issue, they resort to demonisation and character assassination.
Kissoon has accepted that he is a thief but he is also a liar. Contrary to his dishonest claim there are no theories from me about Rodney.
Through him the public is informed that I reside in New York. This is also untrue. And having repeatedly accused me of being racist, crude and primitive he refuses to provide the evidence when called upon.
While Kissoon is paid to write a column unlike many others he thrives on engaging individuals (not issues), creating conflicts, since he lacks the ability to intellectually conceptualise, develop and maintain constructive thought processes/engagements. That is his definition of smarts. He could only fool the very naïve.
Kissoon’s failure to develop and cogently present a case to justify positions he has taken has often seen him resorting to name calling. This attitude will not help for while he proclaims himself as a person who is widely read his academic incompetence is manifested in his idiotic arguments.
He would rather deal with personality than issue and when he cannot deal with the issue he creates a personality around it so he can reject the person and present a pseudo response while he skirts the issue.
On this occasion let our respective record settle our academic integrity. None of the universities I attended found me engaging in impropriety, neither have I accepted accolades that were never officially accorded.
And in his usual illusions of intellectual grandeur he has ascribed to himself the title of “rights activist.” Here again, he is failing to understand rights activists will unequivocally demand justice be done for Burnham and Rodney by putting in place the IICE. Kissoon isn’t interested in and don’t want this. He is an intellectually challenged and reckless loud mouth who wants to maintain his relevance and finds perpetuating the Burnham/Rodney myth an avenue to do so.
