Dear Editor,
I refer to the recent imbroglio surrounding the acquisition of shares by Mr. Ron Webster and Ms. Patricia Bacchus in Caribbean Container Inc.
In response to Mr. Christopher Ram’s detailed and erudite analysis, Ms. Bacchus says there will be no comment from the company. I find this most unusual as being a beneficiary of shares herself I would have expected her to take the opportunity to clear the air on the issue. I do not think in this case silence is an option.
Mr. Webster is also chairman of the private sector commission and it is imperative that he sets the record straight and detail the circumstances as to how he came to acquire almost the entire company. Failing this, I do not see him being able to have the respect of other stakeholders of Guyana including the political parties.
I would also like Mr. Webster to tell us how many shares he owns in CCI, what is the value of those shares, and how much did he pay for the shares. Also I believe that there were many original shareholders. What is the status of those shares? Can Mr. Yesu Persaud, the first chairman of this company, (when it was SAPIL ) shine some light in this?
