A draft plan to develop the Guyana Zoo and improve security in the urban parks is to be unveiled
Tuesday, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment announced Friday.
The Ministry is collaborating with the Protected Areas Commission (PAC), Beharry Group of Companies and Conservation International. The development of the Zoo falls under the Three Parks Initiative, a project for the upgrade of facilities and enhancement of security in the urban parks in Georgetown.
A draft master plan to restore the Zoo is to be unveiled Tuesday.
The presentation will be held on Tuesday at the National Park Parking Lot, Carifesta Avenue entrance, at 19:00 hrs.
According to the Ministry, the draft Master Plan is the result of a partnership and the presentation will signal the beginning of a long term effort to modernize and transform the Zoo by implementing the highest international standards in animal welfare and by allowing Guyanese and visitors to connect with the rich natural world that exists beyond the limits of Guyana’s urban landscape.
