Once again the Organisers of the Inter-Market Futsal Competition has been forced to adjust the date for the commencement of the event after being told by the custodian of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall that the facility was not ready to facilitate the original dates given to start.
Co-organiser O’Neil Durant presented a letter to Kaieteur Sport on Wednesday which stated that the previous dates June 6, 8, 11, 13, 18, 20 and 25 are no longer possible due to circumstances beyond their control.
The letter added that at a recent Meeting held by the Authority, it was agreed in principle that the new dates for the commencement of the competition will be July 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 23 and 29 and this is if there are no further interruptions.
The National Sports Commission, the entity responsible for the issuance of permission to use the facility via the letter expressed an apology for the inconvenience caused and wished the organisers the best.
Durant appealed to the corporate community for their patience, adding that all systems are in place for a prompt start, but the current situation is clearly beyond their control. He said he is hoping that with the announced new dates, the competition will eventually enjoy a positive start.
