Guyanese dominated the Telecommunications Company Suriname (Telesur) half marathon race on Sunday, sweeping the male category of the event staged in Nickerie.
The Caribbean’s most dominant distance athlete, Cleveland Forde won the race ahead of Kelvin Johnson, Cleveland Thomas and Lionel D’Andrade respectively.

It was good warm-up for the Guyanese male distance-running quartet ahead of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s Independence Half Marathon on Sunday.
In other results, from reports reaching Kaieteur Sports, Alika Morgan romped home to take the female event for her third consecutive triumph at the event. The 22-year-old Morgan clocked 39:30 to better her time in 2012. Eighteen year old Samuel Kaitan finished third in the Junior category.
Guyana’s Andrea Foster was second in the junior female race with Jevina Straker winning. Straker was also third overall.
Llewellyn Gardner won the Master’s race, while Alicia Fortune, Foster’s mother, was second in the female Master’s event. Shirleen Phillips copped the second position in the senior women’s Masters Section.
