Dear Editor
In a recent letter, I read a fascinating nutshell account of Guyana’s (troubled) political history since Independence.
The case of the post-1992 “perplexed, vexed, upset” Guyanese and the ‘reeling’ country’s ‘’preparedness to hold and win free and fair (snap) elections’’, was eloquently and lucidly presented in 8 points.
I was amused by the description ‘young turks’. My husband and I had just been recalling the term we used to describe greedy primary schoolmates, i.e. ‘turkish’. Some coincidence.
The letter writer wonders “what will shake the trees……..” My own guess would be a perceived up-and-coming world power might, for reasons of its own, i.e. wise men from the East. Geralda Dennison
