Dear Editor,
The nation is still awaiting a truthful explanation from President Donald Ramotar, Winston Brassington and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, concerning the real deal behind the US$60M ‘Marriott Hotel’ contract which was awarded to a Chinese construction firm.
The President is obligated to answer to the Guyanese people; after all, it’s hard earned taxpayers’ money being used to fund this controversial project which was negotiated and agreed to by Bharat Jagdeo and his friends.
Mr. Ramotar needs to explain why no Guyanese workers are allowed to work on this multi-million dollar project, and secondly, are the Chinese workers being exploited by the construction firm? These Chinese are working in a foreign country, and as such are subjected to the labour laws of Guyana. Having said that, I’m wondering whether those workers are being EXPLOITED? Mark A. Benschop
