The man who was driving minibus 5519 at the time of the accident involving a toddler on the Cullen Public Road Thursday morning had to be rescued by residents of Cullen, hours after the accident.
Reports stated that the toddler’s father, armed with a cutlass pursued the driver.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 hours, Thursday morning. The three-year-old, who attends a play School in the neighbourhood and his mother were said to be going to purchase produce from a mobile Canter truck that usually sells food items along the Essequibo Coast.
The report added, while standing near the truck, the toddler apparently loosed the grip off of his mother’s hand and attempted to cross road when he was hit by the minibus, which was traveling to Supenaam.
The toddler was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital and later had to be transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
