‘Black Salim’ turns self in to police
Salim Bacchus called ‘Black Salim’ for whom the police had issued a wanted bulletin, has turned himself in. According to the police, the man turned himself in at the New Amsterdam Police Station yesterday in the company of his lawyer, Ramesh Rajkumar.
Bacchus was wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Police Constable 20682 Jirbahan Dianand on September 14, 2012. He is now assisting with the investigations.

Only last week the police issued a bulletin for his arrest. The bulletin came after a teen reportedly confessed to being in Bacchus’s company when Constable Dianand was shot and killed. The revelation was made when the teen and another man were arrested after a taxi driver was shot and his car taken away. The teen and two other men have since been charged with attempted murder and robbery under arms.
