Deon Braithwaite, a labourer from Lodge, Georgetown, is charged with wounding his mother’s former lover, with intent to murder him.
Braithwaite was not required to enter a plea to the allegation when he faced Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Reports are that Braithwaite and the plaintiff share the same neighbourhood and have an ongoing problem, whereby he accuses the complainant of giving his mother a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).
On October 29, the alleged victim was at home when the defendant reportedly kicked down his door, ran into the house and dealt the man several chops about the body with a “sharp object”.
The victim was rescued and was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he is currently a patient.
After hearing the facts of the case the Magistrate remanded the accused to prison until November 5 when he will make his next court appearance.
