The 20-year-old carpenter who was involved in an early morning accident on the Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Public Road last Monday is still in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Richard Jaisingh of 177 Block 12 Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara, was in a minibus, heading to the village of Hope, when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and slammed into a utility pole before ending up in a nearby trench.

Although most of the passengers escaped with minor injuries, Padma Narine, 18, died on spot, while her cousin (Jaisingh) is still on life support.
Yesterday, at GPHC, Jaisingh’s mother, Rambarran told Kaieteur News that she was asleep when one of her nephews woke her up and informed her about the accident.
“I ready and I come down to town but when I reach I didn’t see my son and when I ask then I see they had him on a stretcher taking him for a CT-Scan,” the mother claimed.
She eventually saw him when he was transferred to the ICU. “When I go see him, he was lying on a bed with wires all over him.”
