Twelve-year-old Ricardo Singh, of Providence Primary, East Bank Demerara, is one of the top students at this year’s Grade Six examination, Ricardo gained 536 marks. “I feel excited and I am thankful for the support of my teachers from my school and also from my lessons and my family,” said Ricardo.
He has gained a place at Guyana’s top secondary school, Queens College.
He added that for him his toughest subject at the exam was social studies, while he felt that he excelled in science, which he said is his favorite subject.
The aspiring doctor said that he is fully prepared for all of the challenges that this new chapter of his life may entail. Nothing comes without hard and dedicated efforts, he said.
An overjoyed Richard Singh, Ricardo’s father, told Kaieteur News that he is not surprised at his son’s success since the boy has always excelled in school.
He added that Ricardo has always aimed for Queens College and he has full confidence in his son that he will continue to perform to the best of his ability at his new school.
Richard said that he is grateful to the support from the teachers at the Providence Primary School and the teachers of the Success Elementary where Ricardo took extra lessons in the afternoons.
