The body of Patrick Sears, said to be in his early 50s, was yesterday found with his bicycle in a “very shallow trench” at Number 28 Village, West Coast Berbice, by his nephew.
According to the dead man’s siblings, the boy was walking across the bridge when he spotted his uncle’s lunch bag in the trench, and opted to take a closer look. The boy then discovered his uncle’s lifeless body.
His family believes that Sears might have suffered one of his “regular” seizures.
“It got to be that he catch a fit since fuh years he does trouble with it,” a relative said.
But there were reports of the man being under the influence of alcohol.
The police was called to the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
A post mortem is to be conducted soon.
