A 37-year-old miner was yesterday placed in state custody after he reportedly sought to end the

life of his co-worker with whom he allegedly had a misunderstanding.
The order was given by Magistrate Hazel Octive- Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court after the police prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the victim was still hospitalized as a result of his injuries.
Jerome Piggott, of 18 Mile Rockstone, Essequibo River allegedly attempted to kill Brian Henry at Princeville Backdam, Potaro, Essequibo on April 27, by chopping him.
Prosecutor Sergeant Lionel Harvey requested that the defendant be remanded to jail since the condition of the victim was unknown. The Magistrate accepted the request of the prosecutor and remanded the defendant until May 9.
This publication understands that the defendant and the victim reportedly worked on the same site and on the day in question they had an argument which resulted in the defendant chopping the victim about his body.
