GCA’s Carib Beer, Friends of cricket 1st div cricket
Jamal Hinckson stroked a polished century, while off-spinner Kevin George grabbed a five-wicket haul for host DCC in their drawn Carib Beer/Friends of Cricket two-day first division cricket encounter against Police which concluded yesterday.
Hinckson’s 105 was supported by Cohen Ismond who made 70 and Jahron Byron (56) as DCC declared at 359-9. Troy Benn grabbed 4-28 for Police and got back up from Jason Heyliger who captured 2-73.
Police in reply were bowled out for 149 despite an unbeaten 37 from Randolph Knights, 29 from Shameer Fazal and 23 from Benn.
Off-spinner Toralva Scipio captured 4-48 and National t20 left-arm pacer Andre Stoll 2-14 for the Queenstown line-up.
Asked to follow-on, the Lawmen reached 216-6 in their second innings when the match ended with Jason Reynolds undefeated on 33. Benn made 49 and Fazal 46 as George snatched 5-55 and Scipio took the other wicket to fall.
At GDF, in the other match in the competition played over the weekend, GNIC took first innings points from GDF despite a useful all-round performance from first-class opener Shemroy Barrington.
Barrington scored 76 and received support from Trevon Garraway (26*) and Terry Fraser (24) as the Soldiers were dismissed for 175.
Collis Butts picked up 4-17 and fellow Off-spinner Orlando Fraser 4-14 for GNIC who fell for 200 in their first innings with former West Indies ODI player Royston Crandon leading the way with 77 and Ejaz Mohamed making 28. Garraway took 4-22 and Barrington 3-44.
GDF declared their second innings closed at 155-5 with Fraser making an unbeaten 55, Mark Haynes 28 and Jeremiah Harris 26.
Ranole Bourne and Ray Sookdeo had two wickets each for GNIC who reached 53 without loss in their second innings when the game was called off with Quency Ovid-Richardson finishing unbeaten on 41. Sookdeo was with him on four.
There was no play in the other scheduled match between GCC and Everest at UG.
