Bentley back to winning ways
Jude Bentley returned to winning ways, making light work of his opponents to win the Powerade sponsored 50-mile Cycle Road race held in West Demerara yesterday.

He won the race in a time of 1 hour 54 minutes 55 seconds in a dominant performance, claiming two prime prizes in the event which took place from Wales on West Bank Demerara to Bushy Park, Parika before returning to finish at the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Orville Hinds was second with Eric Sankar third, Raymond Newton fourth, Enzo Matthews fifth and Davenand Bissoon sixth.
Newton also had two primes, while there was one apiece for Hinds, Matthews and Collis Williams.
Michael Anthony was first in the junior category followed by Paul DeNobrega and Raul Leal in second and third place respectively. Talim Shaw placed first in the veteran category with Shameer Baksh placing second and Kennard Lovell third.
In the upright division, Dexter Wilson came out victorious from Hamza Eastman and Andre Petty. Walter Isaacs was the only finisher in the over-60 category. A special prize was also presented to 13-year-old Alfie Sonoram for being the youngest participant in the race which attracted 46 starters.
Banks DIH Soft Drink brand manager Jennifer Khan congratulated the outstanding cyclists and explained the value of Powerade energy drink to athletes.
National cycling coach Hassan Mohamed thanked Banks DIH for sponsoring the race. He said Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart was instrumental in securing sponsorship for the event.
Hassan said Banks DIH had made a commitment to sponsor a race programme in the National Park in honour of the late former President of the Guyana Cycling Federation Ulric “Polly” Pollydore.
