According to community members who had gathered outside of the restaurant, the dead man who was also known as “Robbie”, had allegedly fallen off of a motorcycle parked outside of the building. They were not sure what time the incident occurred but the police and other emergency vehicles were on the scene, having arrived about 18:00 hours, the people said.
Reports are that Persaud was sitting on the parked motorcycle when he collapsed.
One man, Sean Razac, claimed that he was a friend of Persaud and before his demise the man was reportedly living with him in the Alberttown area. Razac said that Persaud was unemployed and that he lived on Government assistance.
Razac also told reporters that Persaud was an unwell person and that he suffered from asthma which caused him to frequent the doctor. Razac continued that his friend was previously employed in the interior as truck driver. “He had been a driver in the bush and suffered from lung problems,” the man explained.
Razac however claimed that he had no contact with the dead man’s family. He said that although the man lived with him he had never had the opportunity to meet Persaud’s family and as such, he was unaware that the family knows about Persaud’s death.
Persaud was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
