DEAR EDITOR,
I have noticed that in articles which you have carried on the resignation of Mr. Sesh Sukhdeo as the OLPF head and on the current management issues within the project, that there were references to problems at OLPF when it was under my charge.
For example in your recent article (March 21) there were two such references –
“News of Sukhdeo’s departure surfaced earlier this month. Kaieteur News understands that Sukhdeo had offered to resign recently over grouses, such as functioning under the oversight of former Labour Minister Manzoor Nadir.” And, “This newspaper understands that other senior officials of the project were not happy with the way Nadir was exercising his oversight of the project.”
I am not sure where is the origin of your information, but wherever was the source, whatever the reason and lest your readers and the wider population be misguided, I can confidently say that Mr. Sesh Sukhdeo and I had no disagreements, differences or grouses while I was in charge of the OLPF programme.
I am also proud to say that the cabinet I served in never mentioned any reservations about my stewardship at the OLPF.
In the six months of my oversight these were the accomplishments:
• Addressing the concerns about the first tender process
• Preparation of the second tender document and the successful award of the contract
• The on-time achievement of the delivery schedule by the supplier
• The distribution of more than 5000 computer to recipients. Manzoor Nadir
