The National Grasstrack Racing Club (NGRC) is set to host its second Grass Track Meet for the year on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Strathaven Ground, Cane Grove, East Coast of Demerara.
According to a release from the Club, the primary aim is to ensure that the sport touches every corner of Guyana and this throttled off on the West Demerara recently. The race train will now hit the East Coast of Demerara.
With the overall Pro Champion rider set to win a brand new 2012 Yamaha Bike, all competitors, it has been reported, are pulling out all the stops and focused on their preparations for what is anticipated to be another exciting event.
Setting the pace at the top of the points table is Andy Rajkarran followed closely by the very talented Peter Tulsi and the Dare-Devil-Man from Bartica, Andrew Wong, with Abi Rahaman and Vassie Barry occupying the 4th and 5 spots respectively.
It has been reported that the Strathaven Ground brings back good memories for Abi Rahaman and he is anticipating to keep a positive flow at this venue.
The hype is already building and grass track fans around Guyana are being urged to ensure they are present to witness some heart popping events.
Among the other races carded are for novices, Chappy riders and the newly added 80cc events.
The organizers have said that they are encouraging the many novice riders to compete with a view of increasing the pool and competitiveness in the pro ranks which only has five (5) riders presently.
Race time on Easter Sunday is 11:00hrs with a total of ten races carded for the day. Admission is set at $1,000 with children being admitted free while their will also be a children entertainment corner.
Businesses willing to be a part of the event by sponsoring races or interested in making donations towards the club can do so by contacting club Secretary on 643 1195. Following Easter Sunday’s Race Meet, the club’s next event will be held at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground in the Cinderella County of Essequibo.
