Mr Editor,
The intent of my missive is to invite attention of the Leader of the opposition and the YCT, to a situation which exists at the Bartica Hospital.
The Government is terminating contracts of persons who oppose and openly criticise it but there are their lackeys whose contracts remain in force. The Regional Health Officer at the Bartica Hospital is a retiree and a hindrance to the staff, including medical practitioners.
This vacancy was never advertised for years and this individual continues to enjoy benefits of the State which should have gone to a younger person. This woman is a close friend of a Minister of this Government and is facilitated by the former Minister of Health.
There is evidence that there are persons from Bartica who are qualified for this post but this Government is stubbornly determined to employ this woman in preference of a younger qualified person.
I am calling on the now Minister of Health to terminate this woman’s contract and advertize the vacancy, so that a qualified young person can be gainfully employed. I hope good sense prevails and the Minister would do what is just and right. Umar Saied
