The police were summoned to Kabakuri, Upper Pomeroon River, yesterday, where the body of an Amerindian man was found floating in the River.
They were able to identify the body, with the assistance of Laurna Williams, the Captain of Kabakuri, as Chester Bascom,51, of Kabakuri.
According to reports, Bascom was traveling in a canoe on February 26, on a visit to a relative who lives at St. Monica.
He apparently fell into the water and drowned. His decomposed remains were spotted by Williams at 11:45 hours yesterday. There was no mark of violence on the body.
The body is lying at the Oscar Joseph Hospital, at Charity, awaiting a post mortem.
