State appointed Prosecutor, Vic Puran, yesterday closed his case against the three accused of treason, ex- soldier Leonard Wharton, Major Bruce Munroe and his wife Carol- Ann Munroe.
The matter which was brought against the three accused in late 2010 was presided over by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry. It will be called again on March 15. The prosecution and the defence which is headed by Defence Attorney Nigel Hughes are both expected to make their submissions on the new date.
This comes after the completion of the cross-examination of the chief prosecution witness, Quincy Critchlow.
Critchlow was the last to take the stand against the accused, following Lieutenant Colonel Sydney James and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simeon Reid.
The Munroes and Wharton are accused of conspiring with unknown parties to overthrow the Guyana Government. They were arrested on December 23, 2010, and later charged with treason.
The accused were allegedly caught in a sting operation where an undercover civilian reportedly taped conversations of them plotting to wage war in Guyana.
