Man dies after labaria bite
A labourer from Warapana, Upper Pomeroon River, lost his life four days after he was bitten by a Labaria—a poisonous snake.
Dead is Nelson Daniels, 45, a father of four. Reports are that Daniels, who was employed as a laborer, was said to be cleaning the Warapana Canal at the time he was bitten. However, due to financial constraints coupled with the remoteness of the area, he had great difficulties readily accessing medical assistance.
He had to be transported to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity and then to the Georgetown Public Hospital, after his condition worsened.
