Dear Editor,
I wish to comment on the recent pronouncement of one way streets in the City. The recent changes made of several streets is very confusing and unstructured. For instance, from Robb street to North Road on Albert traffic is allowed in an northern direction, then from Robb to Croal only southern traffic is allowed.
Why this confusion? Why can’t we have every other street (Albert, Light, Alexander) between North and Croal be one way traffic alternately, not part of a street. Let’s have a structured way for one way street so anyone can follow the convention, especially foreigners.
For example, let the whole of Albert be one way for sourthern traffic, then the next parallel street is one way for northern traffic.
Secondly, these streets are marked no entry on the road itself, after a few days of rain, these markings will go. There need to be some better way of highlighting these, some proper metal signs very big and noticeable. Sometimes you only know you are driving on a way when another vehicle is coming right at you and the driver gives you the F word rather that say in a polite way you are on a one way street.
We need to use a standard convention which will be easy to follow and be like other structured countries. Carmachand Rambarran
