Outrageous acts by policemen
Dear Editor,
On February 6, 2012 I was driving along the Railway Embankment from the East Coast to Georgetown. In the vicinity of Conversation Tree on the Embankment Road, a police car, turned in front of me also heading to Georgetown. Just as the car turned, I noticed the officer sitting in the passenger seat throw a Styrofoam food box on the road ways. I was most appalled at this act. Driving a little further up behind them, and before approaching Sherriff Street, it was most shocking once again to see the driver of the police car, pelting out an empty plastic water bottle!
This was most disgusting! How could policemen in “uniform” and in a police vehicle commit such acts! They are supposed to be men of the law, men who are supposed to reprimand others for committing such an act! Now it leaves you to wonder who will reprimand who if the Officers themselves have no respect for the law and the Uniform they are in possession of.
Guyana already have a drainage problem and one of the major issues with that is the Styrofoam boxes and plastic bottles. How could Officers who are supposed to protect our beautiful country from being desecrated are the ones to commit such heinous acts? It certainly leaves you to wonder!
