A man who along with his two accomplices robbed a Parika businesswoman of cash and cheque totaling more than $4M, did not get two far as he was nabbed in a parked car a few miles away.
The man was found with some of the cash and was subsequently positively identified by the victim as the man who snatched her bag from the vehicle.
Police reported that about 21:30 hours on Tuesday, businesswoman Chandrawattie Ali, 50, of Parika, East Bank Essequibo, returned home and parked her vehicle on the bridge while going to open the gate to her premises.
In the process, a man grabbed a haversack that was left in the vehicle which contained $380,000 and a cheque valued $3.8M and escaped in a waiting motorcar, PNN 659.
The police responded promptly to the report received and intercepted the motor vehicle which was found parked at Tuschen.
“A man who was in the vehicle was arrested. He was subsequently searched and the sum of $184,000.00 was found in his possession,” police said in a statement.
They said that they are continuing their search for two other suspects.
