Chief Executive Officer of the Bakewell Group of Companies, Naeem Nasir, has announced that the entity will be providing between 2,000 and 2,500 meals daily to homeless persons when its soup kitchen begins operations in June.
Nasir made that proclamation at the company’s staff appreciation function on Saturday last at its Triumph headquarters. Within two weeks, construction works are expected to recommence on the steel-framed structure located on Brickdam, in proximity to the Palms.
The facility is expected to cost over $190M and will be funded solely by the organization.

“It is our intention to go out and find these people on the streets, make identification cards with their pictures, bring them in and feed them a meal daily,” the CEO stated.
The facility will also have trained personnel to provide counseling sessions. Nasir said it is anticipated that the guidance sessions will change the lives of street children.
