Deputy Mayor of Georgetown, Robert Williams, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after suffering what appeared to be a heart attack.
Kaieteur News was told that Williams arrived at the hospital some time after 16:00hrs on Friday. This newspaper was told he was immediately hooked up to a cardiac machine.
Sources at the hospital said that Williams was in a semi conscious state but was responding to doctors. It was explained that it is unclear if Williams would be taken to the Caribbean Heart Institute or taken to an ordinary ward at the GPHC.
Williams has been deputy mayor for well over a decade. Up to press time doctors were still monitoring his condition.
Over the past several weeks, Williams has joined the list of public officials who have suffered cardiac related illnesses. Only two weeks ago Parliamentarian Everall Franklyn passed away after suffering a massive heart attack.
