Blood bank runs dry
-public urged to donate
A severe shortage of blood is once again being experienced by the National Blood Transfusion Service.
This situation is as a result of the numerous surgeries including open heart surgeries which were conducted over the past few weeks.
According to the Health Ministry, it is appealing to the persons from all blood types to donate. The centres are open between 08:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs. They include National Blood Bank- Lamaha Street, Georgetown; Suddie Hospital, Essequibo (Region Two); West Demerara Regional Hospital (Region Three); the New Amsterdam Hospital, Berbice (Region Six); and the Linden Hospital (Region Ten)
