Police are trying to identify two robbers who snatched $3.5 M from two Brazilian businessmen outside the Guyana Tractor Equipment (GUYTRAC) building near Mandela Avenue and Cross Streets at around 15:00 hrs yesterday.
Kaieteur News understands that the victims, who own businesses in the interior, were about to enter the GUYTRAC premises when two men on a motorcycle held them at gunpoint. Sources said that one of the Brazilians was struck with a handgun.
The robbers then relieved the victims of a bag containing a large sum of cash before fleeing on their motorcycle into Cross Street.
Kaieteur News understands that security personnel in the area shot at the fleeing robbers but missed.
Police sources said that investigators plan to check security cameras in the area in the hope that they can identify the suspects.
